I create in dialogue with the sacred feminine and my practice involves listening to the magic as it appears in dreams, journey, tarot, nature and other daily blessings. I’m a beauty unveiler, light huntress, moment caresser, mythologist, archetype weaver and visionary poetess. Ultimately, all of my work is about helping people peel back the layers to experience the intense beauty of each moment allowing them access to both their intuitive wisdom and a deeper connection to spirit and self, helping them find their own truths in connected stillness. In this way I am a guidess helping others find their own mystery school of wisdom and sacred being.
(Because the beauty of this life cracks our hearts open and it is through the cracks that light can flow both in and out and connect us back to our divine selves).
Oh... and I believe in the magic of this life.
I live in the insanely beautiful Blue Mountains, just shy of Sydney, among the clouds and mist, with my family, our kittens, Willow Sage Locket & Lizzie Bear, and all the winged ones who frequent our garden. Each day here is a wondrous delight of tiny miracles through either the glorious light or magical mists.
I would love to work with you, have a look around and see where you are called...
What People Are Saying
“I see you as a conduit with a million refined facets, so things move thru & you provide a reflection inside that’s at once holographic of the truth & the truth of chaos, incongruency & options. What comes thru, with an edge of rigor, is nothing short of splendid.”
— Maya Corrine Hackett
“Galia has been a joy to work with because of her open heart, her creative drive, and the integrity she carries effortlessly. I see her as an intense force of gypsy goodness in the world.”
— Pixie Lighthorse
“Galia has created a container for me to grow as an artist and a teacher. I’ve found her to be someone who not only paints her truth but brings that truth into her business model. Most importantly for me, I consider Galia to be a partner, a mentor and a friend.”
— Fonda Clark haight
Galia Alena is a courageous pioneer artist with a poetical vision. Her work takes the viewer on a journey beyond the image itself, where the most intimate layers are peeled off to reveal the whimsical integrity at the core of her vision. Her images evoke tranquility and infinity, coaxing the viewer to participate in the self-exploration which successfully ties the lyrical to the universal. Her images expose what is at once both a moment past, yet eternal. They reflect an understanding of mythical and archetypal wisdom common to us all, yet from a supremely vulnerable individual perspective. Her work is whimsical yet intense, sensual yet cerebral, and grounded in the natural world yet some how elusive.
She shows up as an artist not afraid of digging deep for inspiration and tackling the intrinsic complexity of her subject. She is fearless, tender and unrelenting in her representations. As we seek the extraordinary every day, Galia demonstrates that the exceptional is right here, in the present, within our own family, painted on the horizon, in the minute folds of a petal or etched in the sand by the ocean.
As head of Sydney's premier newborn studio, NewLife Photography, for over a decade, Galia has captured the dreams of hundreds of expectant women and new families who have trusted her sensitivity and imagination. The results are unforgettable pictures which capture the vulnerability and poetical identity of her subjects, in a signature style that is now emulated around the world.
She is a multi-award winning photographer, with a BA in Literature and Women’s studies, a Dip in Photography, a Dip in Visual Arts, “Shamanic” practitioner, Reiki master, Earth Medicine practitioner and former head of world renown Newlife Photography, mixed media artist, workshop facilitator and online teacher and creatrix.
